Essential oils are naturally occurring fragrant liquids found in plant material. These are extracted by a variety of methods. Some essential oils like lemon, mandarin and grapefruit can be seen simply by bending and squeezing their peel. These oils are extracted using manual expression. It is more difficult to extract essential oils from other plant materials and in these cases different distillation techniques are used. Essential oils are thought to possess distinctive properties, which may be used to improve overall emotional and spiritual health imbuing the user with a sense of relaxation and calmness.
